About The Retreat at
Annandale
Jeremy and Sarah McQuown have been shaped deeply by a conviction that God meets people in the ordinary spaces of life. They love walking with people and sharing the sacred stories of God encountering them in particular places.
Their journey with hospitality has become closely intertwined with The Retreat at Annandale, a place marked by a legacy of land and resource stewardship. What began as a ministry of care for church leaders and hosting friends in a shared family house, has grown into a vision to create a restorative and healing landscape for weary souls.
Through the years, Jeremy and Sarah have welcomed pastors, leaders, friends, and family to Annandale for times of reflection, spiritual renewal, and vocational clarity. Much of their vision for ministry is shaped by the land itself—the quiet, the wide skies, the unhurried pace—which mirrors their shared belief that transformation most often happens not through pressure, but through presence.
“They see a landscape where Scripture is opened slowly, communion and shared life is practiced faithfully, and people are invited to rediscover God’s presence in the rhythms of everyday life.”

Jeremy
Having served as a pastor and director of a non-profit counseling ministry, Jeremy's pastoral leadership, teaching, and care is rooted in Scripture and a patient attentiveness to the situation at hand.
Sarah
Sarah's gifts of hospitality, care, and spiritual intuition whether in real estate or her personal and professional relationships create spaces where people feel seen, safe, and welcomed into deeper encounter with God.
Their partnership reflects a shared calling: to cultivate environments where faith is not abstract, but embodied—lived at tables, in conversation, in prayer, and in stillness.

Legacy of Faith
The Annandale Ranch is recognized by the state of Texas as a Century Ranch. It has been owned and operated by the same family since 1889. Drawing on the historical values of preservation, conservation, and land stewardship that have helped sustain the ranch and its ownership through the years, our retreat experiences seek to build upon these same values. With this historical ranch as the backdrop of the retreat, we continue the legacy of wise and humble stewardship by designing a space of harmonious coexistence with natural surroundings while minimizing the ecological footprint of the facilities. Every detail and layout of our facility is designed through prayerful consideration of the guests and the land.
Just as we desire to preserve the wide-open spaces and natural beauty of the rolling hills, peaceful meadows, and spring-fed rivers, the desire of our retreats is to create a space that helps preserve the faith of those who walk this historic land.
